Buried in a report on this week's strategic workshops for provincial managers (not the most exciting of reading) is news that Zim 10 cricketing provinces have been mandated to centrally contract a number of professional players, who will be used in development work as well as playing:
It was also announced at the meeting that the provincial associations have been mandated to select five to eight players whom they contract as their full-time employees under ZC. When they are not playing, these cricketers will be tasked to coach in schools and clubs.
More evidence that ZC are actively promoting their various development programmes. These won't help in the short-term, of course, but assuming the coaching being delivered is of a decent standard, this work should pay dividends down the line.
