Training Camp Begins Ahead of Bangladesh Tour

A 24-man training squad went into training camp on Monday, ahead of preparations for Zim’s tour of Bangladesh. One notable absentee was Gregory Strydom, who has opted out of the tour for personal reasons. Terrence Duffin is also an injury worry, having picked up a hand injury, but it’s expected he’ll be fit to make the trip next month. The Chronicle has a look at some of the changes that may be made following the Champions Trophy:

All rounder Williams, pace bowlers Blessing Mahwire and Chris Mpofu and Graeme Cremer are in as well as spinner Keith Dabengwa to give the coach more attacking options.
Williams did not travel to India, opting to play club cricket in England. Top order batsman Vusi Sibanda is now playing in Australia, but his contract allows him to play for country and might be available at the end of November.

That “might” worries me - with the team at its current strength, Sibanda is one of the players who really is required.

The training squad will play twice-weekly matches against Zimbabwe A during the training period, in an effort to keep match-fit and get as much playing time as possible. The touring squad is due to be announced on 12 November.
