ZC Working on Testing Schedule for Zimbabwe ‘A’

Chairman of Selectors Kenyon Ziehl has given an indication of what ZC has in store for the newly-announced Zimbabwe ‘A’ side - although at this stage the schedule is still at the planning stage, with nothing 100% confirmed.

First on the list will hopefully be South African SuperSport Series champions, the Titans, who it’s hoped will visit towards the end of March. There are also tentative plans for another series against South Africa ‘A’ in May, and a visit to India later in the year. The plans form the backbone of ZC’s efforts to rebuild the national sides and gain some depth in available players, ahead of the planned return to Test action towards the end of 2007. According to Ziehl:

“Most of the guys in the side are extremely talented players who are pushing for slots on the national team but still need a bit more time playing List A cricket.”

Might help if they actually played the domestic inter-provincial tournaments, you know…
