Zimbabwe have save the ICC from making a tricky decision by "voluntarily" suspending their return to Test cricket - although gien the contents of Malcolm Speed's report to the ICC board, there wasn't really any alternative option. As things currently stand, there is no date set for the resumption of Test cricket. According to the ICC:
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) reported it is not yet ready to return to Test cricket; it was agreed it would report back when it felt it was ready to step up so that the ICC Board could make a decision on the matter.
In relation to allegations of financial irregularities leveled against ZC, it was agreed there would be an independent audit of ZC's accounts by an internationally recognized firm.
The results of that audit will be presented to the next meeting of the ICC Board, set for October 2007 in Dubai.
Not the first independent audit of ZC's account that has been promised - we're still waiting for the results of the last one to be made public. Any odds for this one bringing better results?
