Queen’s Sports Club trounced Marondera in a rain-affected final to secure the National League B title, with Gregory Strydom taking the lead for his side by bludgeoning his way to 100 runs off just 74 balls - Queen’s scored 274, from just 44 overs. Marondera’s reply was cut short by heavy rain that ended the match, but by then they were already well behind the required Duckworth/Lewis target.
Queen’s Sports Club 274 (44 overs; Strydom 117)
Marondera 115/6 (33 overs)

Takashinga brushed aside Kadoma Sports Club to claim their spot in the National League final, where they’ll meet Bulawayo Athletic Club. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Kadoma crumbled to 110, leaving the boys from Highfield took charge of the game. Their chase was led by Elton Chigumbura, who smashed 57 runs from 59 balls as Takashinga racked up a first-innings total of 177.
Second time around, Kadoma managed a slightly more respectable 123, but with that leaving Takashinga needing to chase just 56 to win, the result was never in doubt.
Kadoma Sports Club 110 (Chaeruka 32, Kadzitye 6/25) & 123 (Gupo 47*)
Takashinga 177 (Chigumbura 59, Chinyoka 6/??, Rainsford 3/??) & 56/0 (Utseya 47*, Chakabva 5*)
Takashinga win by 10 wickets
A little fun over at brmtaylor.com, where they take an A-Z look at the year gone by for Zimbabwean cricket. Worth a look.

Brendan Taylor’s battling innings against Australia in the World Twenty20 has earned him a place in CricInfo’s best-of-the-year list. The article seems to have disappeared from CricInfo’s site now, unfortunately, but with the rest of the list having been a “who’s who” of cricketing big names, it’s a real achievement by Taylor to make the list.
Zimbabwe’s age-group sides are back from their annual trip to South Africa, and the results were a bit of a mixed bag. Most of the attention was on the U19 side ahead of next year’s U19 World Cup, and they lived up to expectations by winning the majority of their matches (available results below the cut). Of the other sides, the U13, U14 and U17 sides all won 1 of their five matches. The U16 side played in a triangular tournament with Northerns and Gauteng sides, but ZC being ZC, results aren’t available.
