Following the move of the Women's World Cup from Pakistan to South Africa on security grounds, ZC have been keen to stress that the safety of their own players has been considered and, in their opinion, will not be at risk during the coming tour. A statement issued by ZC Chairman Peter Chingoka yesterday states that...
"We will be touring Pakistan (and both) the players and their technical staff are all comfortable with the tour"
Chingoka disclosed that ZC was in constant liaison with the Pakistan Cricket Board over security issues and had received assurance from the PCB chairman over safety. The PCB has also furnished ZC with documented safety and security procedures it has drawn up for the tour.
As visible proof of their confidence, the side will be accompanied by a senior ZC official throughout the tour - Chingoka will travel with the team for the first leg of the tour before vice chairman Tavengwa Mkuhlani joins the side in Pakistan on the 17th while chairman of the cricket committee Cyprian Mandenge will take over from Mkuhlani on the 24th.
