Reds cruised to an innings and 59 runs victory in the first match of the Logan Cup B section on Friday.
Resuming on 90/5 after being forced to follow on, Greens lasted only 90 minutes as Reds exerted their dominance with pinpoint bowling. Basail Sanyika and Douglas Jumbo were the pick of the Reds bowlers as they shared the last wickets on their way to figures of 3/9 and 3/47 respectively.
Reds' all-rounder Donald Tiripano was impressive with both bat and ball throughout the three days of the match and may well turn out to be a player to watch. His 87 during the Reds first, and only, innings proved to be the turning point of the match as he came at a time when his team was under fire from the Greens bowling pair of Glynn Nyamayauta and Johannes Matigonda.
Greens, comprising players from Mashonaland West, Masvingo and the Midlands, will play their next match starting on Sunday, at the Zimbabwe Cricket Academy. They face Golds, which has players from the Bulawayo Metropolitan and Matabeleland North and South provinces.
Reds 288 (Tiripano 87, Matigonda 2/35), Greens 99 (Tiripano 5/25) & 130 (following-on; Chaeruka 35, Sanyika 3/9). Reds win by an innings and 59 runs.
