ZC Confirm Duffin and Brent Departure

One of our forum members emailed ZC about the apparent retirements of Gary Brent and Terrence Duffin, and received a reply(!) confirming the story was true. I like this new responsive ZC communications department - it's just a pity they weren't communicating better news.

The original CricInfo article claimed that Brent was leaving due to "selection issues" - comments by Brent in a Cricket365 article suggest other reasons:

"I have quit first-class and international cricket in Zimbabwe," said Brent. "I decided that it was time to get on with my life and get myself a qualification in cricket.

"I gave Zimbabwe Cricket a one-month notice in terms of my contract and I'm happy to say I'm leaving on happy terms. I want to get qualified as a coach and the only way I can get that qualification is by going overseas."

So there you go. Zim are fairly well served in the bowling department at the moment, so there's enough talent in the player pool to cover Brent's departure - although his experience, and lower-order batting skills, will definitely be missed. My "so what?" reaction to Duffin's departure remains unchanged...
